Thomas S. Leech & Co. Memphis Novelty Works  Confederate Cavalry Sabre

Thomas Leech and Charles Rigdon manufactured swords in Memphis, Tennessee from 1857 to 1862, under the name Memphis Novelty Works.  They moved to Columbus, MS in 1862  when Memphis fell to Federal troops and continued business there as Leech and Rigdon. Blade is 35 1/2" long, iron scabbard is wrapped and carries brass bands and rings. Grip is oil cloth wrapped and has original single strand wire.   This sword  has not been cleaned, it is right out of the attic!
